Harjit Singh Sajjan, the first Sikh & Punjabi who has created History in Canada to become the first Defence Minister visited Pingalwara Manawala Complex on 20th April, 2017. He was accompanied by 18 Member Delegation prominent among them consisting of H.E. Nadir Patel, High Commissioner for Canada, Mr. Christopher Gibbins, Consul General; Manjeet Vinning, Senior Special Assistant, Col Mark Dussault, Defence Advisor, Isabelle Daoust, Acting Chief of Staff.
On arrival he was greeted by Pingalwara children by offering of bouquet and beating of drums by school band team. He was received by Pingalwara President Dr. Inderjit Kaur and Mr. Gurpreet Singh Thind our sewadar in Surrey who had specially flown from British Columbia to welcome the honourable guest. After that he was introduced to all members of Pingalwara Society including Dr. Jagdeepak Singh Vice President and Prof. Govt. Medical College, Ar. Mukhtar Singh Hony. Secy, S. Rajbir Singh, Bibi Preetinderjit Kaur, Col. Darshan Singh Bawa Administrator, Dr. Karanjot Singh child specialist (pediatrics), Dr. Sarabjit Singh Chheena and others.
Harjit Singh Sajjan expressed the desire to meet the school children of Bhagat Puran Singh Sn. Sec. School in their classes. He was highly impresses with the performance of the teachers and students. He exhorted all children to achieve excellence in their studies and personal conduct. He told them that sky is the limit to achieve anything. After that he went to Prosthetic Centre and was very happy to note that free limbs are being provided to the needy. During the tour Dr. Inderjit Kaur apprised him of all the activities being undertaken by Pingalwara.
After that he went to children ward where the entire mentally challenged children warmly welcome him. He met the acute handicap children in the ward and expressed satisfaction that utmost care is being given to them by the nursing staff, care-takers and medical staff.
He was greatly impressed with the humanitarian activities which are being run by Pingalwara under the patronage of Dr. Inderjit Kaur and assured her that when he goes back home he will apprise the complete Sikh, Punjabi and Indian people in Canada about the great work which is being done by Pingalwara .
On this occasion Dr. Jagdeepak Singh Vice President and Prof. Govt. Medical College, Ar. Mukhtar Singh Hony. Secy, S. Rajbir Singh, Bibi Preetinderjit Kaur, Col. Darshan Singh Bawa Administrator, Dr. Karanjot Singh child specialist (pediatrics), Dr. Sarabjit Singh Chheena, Dr. Tejpal Singh, Dr. Nirmal Singh, S. Harjit Singh Arora, Additional Administrator, S. Jai Singh, Administrator Manawala, Sh. Tilak Raj General Manager, Sh. Yogesh Suri and others were present.
